How to prepare an appointment brief from your health records
Turn selected conditions, medications and lab observations into a short appointment discussion list. Learn what VisitQuill includes in its text download.
Choose a question before choosing a record
A useful appointment brief starts with what you want to discuss. You might want help understanding a recorded label, checking whether an entry is still relevant, or finding the context behind a result. Keep those questions in your own notes; VisitQuill currently selects record labels rather than providing a free-text question editor.
Build your selection deliberately
After an authorized import becomes available, the workspace lists conditions, medications and lab observations. Select “Discuss at my visit” beside the entries you want to bring forward. The counter and numbered list show the current selection. Selecting an entry does not change the underlying health record.
- Read the displayed record before selecting it.
- Choose the entries connected to your planned conversation.
- Review the numbered list and remove items you selected accidentally.
Understand the downloaded brief
“Download my brief” creates a text file of the selected labels. It is a talking-point list, not a full copy of the record: values, units, detailed directions and source documents are not all reproduced. If a detail matters to your question, keep access to the original information through the appropriate patient portal.
Finish with a readable list
Read the file before your appointment and add any personal questions using your own text editor. The app does not send the brief to a clinician or book a visit. Selections belong to the current session; a downloaded copy has its own lifetime. Live record connections still require production activation.
Questions about this guide
Does the brief include every imported record?
No. It contains labels from the entries you select. The download button stays disabled until you choose at least one talking point.
Can VisitQuill update my chart?
The implemented workflow is read-only. Selecting or downloading talking points does not edit a provider’s record.
